The slides are done, the first one as promised on hand hygiene and the second the first of a series on multi-drug resistant bacteria. Most have heard of MRSA (Methecillin Resistant Staph aureus) - if Dr. Phil knows about it, everyone must. Many don't know about VRE (Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci), Acinetobacter baumannii, or ESBLs (Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase gram-negative rods). The bugs continue to out-smart us and out-pace us.
The one thing we have going for us is the ability to PREVENT infections as long as we know how and actually wash and sanitize our hands.

The first post for Infection Prevention and Control
This is the first posting for Infection Prevention and Control. Ideally, this blog will have a place where questions can be asked and answered using evidence based science with a bit of fun added.
Check back for educational podcasts, slides and maybe a video or two (depending on the moderator's learning curve). All with a bent toward preventing infections.
